Jacobs and Ross, who
together have over 50 years of dance training and experience, have
worked hard to build a school of extraordinary caliber, providing
a strong, well-balanced dance curriculum. Yet, their efforts donít
stop there. Morton Street reaches out to students and the community
in a number of key ways. Aside from the nurturing that they find so
critical, they have developed local partnerships which extend beyond
the school itself. Morton Street has developed a successful after
school program which began with just 68 students and is expected to
swell to nearly 160 this season.
Morton Streetís students successfully use the subtle discipline that dance offers to enhance their lives. The training that the dancers receive shines through in their self-image and self-confidence. Several of the schoolís young teachers began their dance training at Morton Street. Many students have auditioned for and been accepted in the Baltimore School for the Arts, Sudbrook Middle Magnet and Carver High School in Baltimore County. Many others are proud of the leadership roles which they have assumed in school and attribute their work at Morton Street as an important part of those accomplishments.
