Every Morton Street
student, regardless of age, has an opportunity to perform in the schoolís
very popular annual Spring Concert. In addition, Morton Streetís students-and
their audiences-benefit from a number of performances throughout the
year. Just last year alone, the pre-teen, teen and young adult company
members performed at Baltimoreís Artscape Festival, Radio Oneís Mozambique
Relief Drive and Peopleís Expo, the Morgan State University Dance
Festival, the Juneteenth Festival, the Preakness Parade and various
church and community events. The Repertory students also competed,
for the first time, in a regional dance competition - - and won seven
awards for excellence.
This year is even more promising. Morton Street and Ohio University, home to one of the nationís top 10 dance programs, are launching an exciting partnership and exchange program. The school also has a number of travel-performance opportunities in store for its dancers.
