DJ FM + The FM Initiative join ASCAP

DJ FM + The FM Initiative officially joined ASCAP in January 2000. For those of you who don't know, ASCAP is one of three major performers' rights organizations in this country (in addition to BMI and SESAC). They help protect artists from copyright infringement and collect royalties for artists whose works are publicly performed (on radio, tv, movies, even internet downloads!) DJ FM named a Finalist in Sennheiser Competition

DJ FM + The FM Initiative were informed in early 2000 that they were one of 100 finalists in the 1999 Sennheiser Evolution Microphone Competition (when we say informed, we mean it arrived on his doorstep on a cold January morning). Even though the band didn't end up being the grand prize winner, as finalists they received a brand new Evolution E835 Vocal Microphone - probably the first thing DJ FM's ever won in his life!

The grand prize winner received $7500 in equipment and performed live at the 2000 World's Fair in Germany that September.

"Dreamstate" featured on Resonance Project's "Transmissions" Compilation

The classic FM track "Dreamstate" was chosen as one of the many tracks being featured on the first "Transmissions" compilation, put together by the good folks at Afterhours WKNC, in conjunction with Resonance Project.

The compilation was released in January of 2000 and showcased the diverse range of talent in the electronic music community in the Southeast. The Sonic Boom Crew threw the CD Release Party at Wicked Smile (now Five Star) in downtown Raleigh's warehouse district in February of 2000 (postponed due to the "blizzard" that January) and featured a stunning live performance by Tech23. The first 100 people through the door receieved a free copy of the CD.

Transmissions II is out now! Pay a visit to Resonance Project to see where you can get your copy!
